It was mid morning on a cold December day when the phone rang at the McDonald Memorial Police Station. “This is the McDonald Memorial Police Station, what is your emergency?” The operator asked.
“The Fata Toy Store is being held up by some crazy man with a gun! Please, help out those poor people trapped inside.” Came the panicked reply. The Fata Toy Store was the largest toy store in the city, which on any given day could have hundreds of kids looking at all the toys and enjoying the ones on display.
“I’ve got officers and SWAT on their way to the location. Please, try and remain calm and inform the officers what has happened.” The operator said before disconnecting the call.
Because it was Christmas season, there were nearly a thousand people trapped. Parents, grandparents, and even aunts and uncles were being held hostage just so that some man could make a little bit of money. More importantly though, were the poor kids who were terrorized by the sight of the man pointing a gun at them. Their fears suddenly intensified, as a crack of thunder resounded through the store, the gunman falling down. Two large explosions came right afterwards, one right after the other. In the wake of these explosions, police officers with large guns stormed through the breaches.
A lone police officer with a cross around his neck walked calmly in the front of the store, not holding a gun like the others, but a bible. He waved for the hostages to exit the store behind him, which they quickly did, each one passing by this religious officer. They were all too happy to leave a place that would only foster bad memories and fears.
A while later, once the situation calmed down more and all of the hostages had been checked out by a medical professional, one woman stopped and asked this officer one quick question before she left. “How is it you can do your job following your religion without sinning? Doesn’t your God believe that all life is sacred?”
“I help people who are in need.” The officer said. “What more can I do to help out my God? This is what He wants in this world.”

That is what I have done with this story. Any suggestions and comments would very much be appreciated.
